Boulder County, Colorado lies just over the hill from Denver. The main city of Boulder Country, aptly named Boulder, is approximately an hour's drive from Denver International Airport. Because of the surrounding mountains, it's hard to imagine that this smaller, seemingly rural county is located so close to the hustle and bustle of the big city.
Conveniently located within an hour's drive from Denver, Colorado and Estes Park, Colorado, the county of Boulder, Colorado is a great destination location for a vacation.
The front range of the Rocky Mountains serves as a natural border between the county and the faster paced area of Denver. The entire county is a fantastic place for hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and all other types of outdoor activities with the exception of ocean surfing.
It is usually sunny and dry and most of Boulder County boasts of having as much sunshine as San Diego. However, they do get some afternoon rain showers in the late spring and early summer. The winters are filled with sunshine with only an occasional snowfall – which does not stay on the ground very long.
