Estes Park Area Historical Museum

The Estes Park Museum was founded by volunteers in 1962 to preserve the history and tradition of Estes Park. A permanent exhibit called Tracks in Time, follows Estes Park's history from the lifestyles of the Ute, Shoshone, and Comanche, its first inhabitants, to the livelihoods of hunters and ranchers that called the area home in the mid-nineteenth century.

The Estes Park Historical Museum hosts four temporary exhibits in the Main Gallery, which is located within the National Park Service Building. Some of the recent and upcoming exhibits are as follows. Roosevelt's Tree Army, the Legacy of the CCC features a large group of men who maintained trails and protected forests during the difficulties of the Great Depression. A Night at the Riverside is another exhibit that explores the history of a dancehall, amusement park, roller rink, and playhouse that entertained many visitors from 1923 to 1970. A Charles Partridge Adams exhibit displays his beautiful landscape paintings of Estes Park and many parts of Colorado. An exhibit on the 10th Mountain Division features a WWII force that was trained in Leadville, Colorado specifically for mountain battle.

Come enjoy a unique collection of exhibits as well as many artifacts that define the Estes Park area from the ice age to present times. To raise funds for the museum an annual event called the Coolest Car Show in Colorado takes place. The museum is open year round.
