Grand Lake
Grand Lake is the largest natural lake in Colorado. Surrounded by towering peaks of the Rockies it sits just outside the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The town of Grand Lake is a recreation destination year round with fishing and boating as its summer highlights and ice fishing and cross country skiing in the winter.
Fishing, boating, swimming, sailing, camping, ice fishing, and beautiful scenery draw many people to the Grand Lake area. Shadow Mountain Lake and Lake Granby are manmade lakes that sit within close proximity to Grand Lake. Together, these three lakes offer over 150 miles of beautiful shoreline for camping, fishing, and hiking.
The rivers and streams that feed and leave these lakes are world renowned for fly fishing. Rainbow, brown, brook, and cutthroat trout, as well as kokonee salmon, lurk in many hidden waters of Grand Lake. Make sure to obtain a fishing license before venturing out with your fly rod.
