Grand Lake Classic Cross Country Ski Race
Grand County, Colorado is famous for having some of the very best cross-country skiing areas in North America. Grand Lake Touring Center is one of five public Nordic centers in the area boasting 35 kilometers of groomed tracked and skating trails. Throughout the winter, the Center sponsors a variety of special events, including the Grand Lake Classic Cross Country Ski Race.
Grand Lake Touring Center is one of the area's excellent golf courses during the summer months. Once the snow falls, the center transforms into 35 kilometers of groomed tracked and skating trails. With scenic panoramas of the Rocky Mountain National Park and the Arapaho National Forest, the Grand Lake Touring Center offers the beginner to advance skier and snowshoer a variety of terrain.
The Center is most famous for its annual Grand Lake Classic Cross Country Ski Race. The race is a 10K freestyle competition, which is held the last weekend of February. The Nordic track offers a gentle ski around the rolling trails of the golf course and its nearby forest. Grand Lake Touring Center also serves as the trailhead for many more challenging backcountry trails that stretch out into the public lands that border the property.
