Grand Lake, Colorado is a small town located at the Western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, only a two-hour drive from the Denver metropolitan area. Throughout the year, Grand Lake hosts a multitude of traditional celebrations in honoring its rich and preserved heritage. The winter brings a transformation to the town creating a winter wonderland and the perfect setting for the Grand Lake Old-Fashioned Christmas.
The Village of Grand Lake is a mountain resort popular for its sunny days, low-key tempo, family-owned shops and fine restaurants. An endless range of mountains and Colorado's largest natural lake, Grand Lake, surrounds this charming village. Grand Lake Village makes a perfect winter setting with lights illuminating the shore of the lake and the snow-covered peaks providing a spectacular backdrop, ideal for the Grand Lake Old-Fashioned Christmas.
During Old-Fashioned Christmas, the village in Grand Lake is full of winter magic. The celebration begins with a Crafts Fair, starting around Thanksgiving. This is the perfect time to shop for one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. The entire month of December is full of holiday cheer, including caroling by candlelight, sleigh rides, cantatas, reenactments of the Christmas story with a real outdoor nativity play, snowman contest, and a full moon ski event.
