August is full of wonderful events in Grand Lake, such as the Grand Lake Rubber Duckie Races, held August 3, and the Grand Lake Regatta and Lipton Cup Races, held the first week in August.

Sailboats from around the world compete to win the prestigious Lipton Cup, given to the club by Thomas Lipton in 1912.

When you're at an international event like this in such pristine surroundings, it is easy to appreciate the words of Enos Mills, a dedicated naturalist whose vision and determination helped to save this spectacular land: "This is a beautiful world, and all who go out under the open sky will feel the gentle, kindly influence of nature and hear her good tidings."
