Grand Lake Western Weekend
Situated at the western border of Rocky Mountain National Park, near the headwaters of the Colorado River, Grand Lake is Colorado's largest natural lake. The village of Grand Lake is the western gateway to the park and provides numerous services for the visitor's vacation needs. A time not to be missed is Grand Lake's Western Weekend.

For close to 60 years, people have been flocking to the Grand Lake Buffalo Barbecue for 2 days chock full of fun. Taking place in mid-July, the Grand Lake BBQ marks the conclusion of Western Week, a celebration of Grand Lake's cowboy and pioneering heritage.
Grand Lake celebrates the Fourth of July with a Fireworks Extravaganza, the largest display on the Western Slope. But Grand Lake's premier weekend, Western Weekend, takes place the 2nd weekend in July. Western Weekend celebrates the town's cowboy and pioneer heritage. It is quite spectacular and there's something for everyone here to enjoy.
There are the Legends of Grand Lake, Spirit Lake Mountain Man Rendezvous, parade, a five kilometer Buffalo Run – what a sight!, pancake breakfast, mock gunfights – the kids will love this, and more.
Try farm-raised buffalo at the annual community Buffalo Barbecue, a tradition since 1947. The sauce, by the way, is still a secret>
