Ranger Led Walks

Walk or hike alongside a ranger and learn about Rocky Mountain National Park from a naturalist on the Ranger Led Walks. Hiking to Dream Lake, take a stroll along Bear Lake or take a hike through the wildflowers discovering the parks history. enjoy the park a little off the beaten path.

Spring Bird Walk - 1.5 hours, starts April 1

Join a local expert for birding at one of the best times of the year. Bring binoculars and a field guide. Meet at the West Alluvial Fan parking lot.

Overview: Stories unfold on the easy to moderate walks and hikes throughout the park all led by a ranger. Ask a ranger any question you want while walking on one of the scheduled ranger led events in the summer and fall season of Rocky Mountain National Park.

When: Typically during the Summer and Fall seasons. Times and days vary by scheduled walk. Most walks will take place mid morning or mid afternoon.

Where: The locations vary. In the past walks have included places around Bear Lake, Coyote Valley, the Colorado River Trailhead and other spectacular locations.

Fees: These walks are free to park visitors. Provided as a service from the National Park Service.

Details: The Ranger Led Walks meets at the visitor centers of the ranger district they are in. These walks can vary from easy to moderate to family minded. Remember to always bring sunscreen, water, rain gear and of course your curiosity.
