Fishing

Fly-fishing is excellent in the town of Estes Park, mainly because it is located where two rivers that flow from Rocky Mountain National Park converge (Big Thompson and Fall River.) It also has two lakes and a marina (Lake Estes, Marys Lake, and the Lake Estes Marina).

If you love fly-fishing, Estes Park in Colorado is a destination you must visit at least once in your life. Rocky Mountain National Park has a wide range of rivers and alpine lakes perfect for fishing. Fall River in Horseshoe and the Big Thompson in Moraine Park are also favorites.

This area boasts some of the world's most famous streams, creeks, rivers, ponds, and lakes. The waters in the region are overflowing with trout.

Fishing was a popular activity with the early settlers in the Rocky Mountains. To make fishing better in the area, however, they stocked many streams with non-native species of trout. They also moved trout populations to lakes and streams with smaller amounts of fish.

You'll never forget a fly-fishing experience in Colorado. In fact, you'll probably plan a few more trips in the future.

You can obtain fishing tips, supplies and licenses at local businesses. In addition, many accommodations provide lodging right on the water - some stock the river or lake with rainbow and brook trout.
