Grand County's large amount of natural resources makes fly-fishing in the area (as well as other activities) a great opportunity to have fun. The region boasts 1,000 miles of streams, 1,000 acres of high mountain lakes, and 11,000 acres of reservoirs. A fishing trip to Lake Granby is particularly rewarding, no matter what your skill level.
Trout and salmon are the most popular fish to be found in mountain fishing. And there is no shortage in Grand County - under the water you'll find mackinaw and kokanee salmon as well as rainbow, brook, German brown, and cutthroat trout.
Lake Granby covers 7,256 acres of water and has 40 miles of shoreline, making it the second largest body of water in Colorado.
Lake Granby is part of the Arapaho National Recreation Area, which includes five lakes and reservoirs at the upper end of the Colorado River Valley. The reservoirs were built for the benefit of the cities on Colorado's east slope (they provide water from the west slope).
Located just north of Granby and west of Rocky Mountain National Park, Lake Granby is off Highway 34.
