Backcountry adventure awaits you in Rocky Mountain National Park. It is a great way to get away from the crowds and travel through the wilderness. Special tours can be arranged through qualified guides. Alternatively, you can elect to go it alone. The wilderness is fragile, so please take special care to enjoy nature without destroying it.
Permits are required for all overnight stay in the backcountry. Reservations may be made in advance or day of trip permits can be obtained in person year-round. Between June and September, backcountry camping is limited to seven night. However, during the remaining months of the year, your stay can be extended by fourteen more nights.
