Longmont, Colorado is located within Boulder County. It's a city covering 22 square miles, boasting more than 300 days of sunshine a year, and wonderful views of the Rocky Mountains.

Founded in 1871 by members of the Chicago Colony (settlers in the valley), the town of Longmont is home to many high-tech companies. It also has a thriving restaurant scene. So how did the town get its name? It was named after Major Stephen H. Long, who headed an expedition to the area to explore the St. Vrain River valley in 1820. The name "Longmont" combines his name and the word "mont" from the French word for mountain.
