Loveland Colorado

Loveland, Colorado is situated in a verdant valley at the entrance to the Big Thompson Canyon. Called the "Gateway to the Rockies," Loveland contains many scenic lakes, parks, trails, and recreational areas. Loveland, Colorado has the Larimer County Parks and Open Space area in its own backyard. The open space area is protected and maintained by staff and over 2,000 volunteers. It includes the Devil's Backbone, Carter Lake, Pinewood Reservoir, Flatiron Reservoir, and Ramsay-Shockey Open Space.

The lakes, rivers and streams in Loveland offer excellent swimming, water skiing, rafting, boating, fishing and other water sports. Plus, the mountains provide many opportunities to go hiking, hunting, and horseback riding.

The town also has 27 public parks covering over 700 acres of land, developed and undeveloped. Three public golf courses let you enjoy a game of golf in the view of gorgeous vistas and well-maintained greens.

The small-town feeling of Loveland is really what makes it so special. The strong community sensibility is also important.

If you enjoy fine art, Loveland will not disappoint. The town has a multi-million dollar collection of bronze sculptures that you can see throughout the city. In addition, there are art galleries, studios, and foundries. Plenty of outdoor sports are happening around town, and entertainment is not hard to find. Shop the antique stores in the historic downtown district, or discover deals at the outlet mall. Plan to stay in Loveland before you head over to the Rocky Mountain National Park to explore the beauty of nature.

Loveland is more than just a pit stop on the way to Estes Park. Stay overnight before heading up to the park the next day at a comfy lodge, a cabin near the river, in a bed and breakfast, or hotel. But remember to stay awhile and see what Loveland has to offer before heading on.
