Visitor Centers
Before entering Rocky Mountain National Park, it is a good idea to stop in at one of the visitors' centers. Here you can pick up information on hiking, camping, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The visitor's center is the place to start your adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park.
There are a total of seven visitors' centers in Rocky Mountain National Park. These are located in various areas and are also open at different times during the year. The visitors' center at Alpine opens on Memorial Day and stays open until the middle of October. The Coral Creek visitors' center opens in mid June and stays open until Labor Day. The Lily Lake visitors' center is open year round, as is the Headquarters visitors' center and Kawuneeche. The Moraine Park Museum and the Sheep Lakes visitors' centers are generally open from mid May until the middle of October.
The visitors' center is a great place to get all the information that is needed to fully enjoy the experiences and adventures that you will find in Rocky Mountain National Park. At the visitors' center you can get brochures, pamphlets and even verbal information about hiking, camping, backpacking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Each visitors' center also have souvenirs, jewelry, crafts, books, and food. There are also services available for families and groups and a vast selection of gifts, maps and other miscellaneous information.
National Park Service staff and the staff of the individual concessionaires are available at the visitors' center to answer any questions which you may have and to give you guidance and directions as you plan your visit to the rest of Rocky Mountain National Park.
