ATV / Offroad
Rocky Mountain National Park is a national icon — its rugged mountains carve out a skyline that captures the American imagination and serves as both protector and passageway to the west. The off-road experience here is something else indeed! One-third of the park is above timberline, the 14,255-foot flat-topped summit of Longs Peak included; there are 71 peaks here that top out above 12,000 feet.

Trail Ridge Road, Old Fall River Road and Bear Lake Road are in Rocky Mountain National Park. Drive up Trail Ridge Road to the alpine tundra and sample the air at 12,000 feet. Get off the beaten path and glimpse the backcountry from Old Fall River Road. Enjoy the scenic Peak to Peak Highway that leads to Central City gaming or Eldora downhill skiing. Watch for bighorn sheep in the narrows of the Big Thompson canyon as you go to the flatlands to shop the Outlet Mall or see the Budweiser Clydesdales. Estes Park is a hub of scenic drives to interesting places.
There's just too much spectacular country here for a mountain fanatic to stay away. And when you slip off the beaten path, there's solitude aplenty. This is a 415-square-mile chunk of Rocky Mountain highs, latticed by some 370 miles of hiking and walking trails that weave up steep rocky trails, over alpine tundra, past high-mountain lakes, and through aspen groves, spruce forests, and meadows peppered with columbine. If you're looking to connect with your inner mountain man, you couldn't pick a better place.
